We recently made two updates to Showdog in order to help the daily salary come back up.
Increased Cost of All-Breed Shows
The cost of all-breed shows has been increased to $4,000. This change will remove an additional $6,000 a day from the game that will be put back in the form of daily salaries. Based on recent activity, this will increase the daily salaries by about $.25 per ‘share’. It’s not much but it will help a bit.
Any argument that this will cause fewer shows to be added to the schedule is baseless until we have a single day when the show schedule isn’t filled up within a few hours of midnight. We’re going to watch what this does to the entry fees. The last cost increase didn’t have any noticeable impact on the entry fees which are currently at an average of $11.63 for the next month.
For those that are upset this will make sponsoring shows uneconomical for some, that’s the point. It’s not supposed to be economical for everyone.
Removal of Inactive Kennels from Salary Pool
We added inactive premium kennels to the salary pool because of the extremely passionate complaints from people who left the site for a few months and came back later only to find that their kennel didn’t get their salaries. However, as soon as we started adding these kennels back to the pool, the daily salaries dropped by about 20%. This move made leaving your kennel alone for a few months and coming back a legitimate strategy to increase your average balance.
This restriction will be added to the Terms and Conditions and users will not be charged for dog food when they are inactive for two weeks.
